A weekend in the Cameron Highlands

Over the course of our 11 months living in Malaysia we have managed to visit quite a few places across the country: Langkawi (twice), Tioman (twice), Penang, Kuching, Kuala Lumpur (many times), Melaka (twice), to name a few. But it's the Cameron Highlands that many people associate with Malaysia and continue to talk about, even taking pride of place as the front cover on the current Malaysia Lonely Plant guide (other brands are available). So we thought it was time to see what all the fuss is about...

A belated postcard from Borneo

Hello! In keeping with my promise to catch up on my posts, today I thought I'd share with you some pictures from our trip to Kuching in Borneo. Kuching is in the Malaysian state of Sarawak and is about a two hour direct flight from our home in JB. In November last year we had the opportunity to take an extra long weekend away, thanks to two consecutive national holidays in celebration of 1) the Hindu festival of Deepavali and b) the Johor Tigers football team winning a big competition somewhere!

On being vegetarian

I'm not even going to begin to explain my total lack of blogging since my New Year's resolution...! I suppose we were busy for a while and then I just got out of the habit of writing. I think we also tend to rely too much on Facebook to post pictures and news of our escapades, forgetting that a) not everyone uses Facebook and b) a time may come when we don't want to use it anymore either, and then all of our photos will disappear from the tinterweb!
