Getting settled in Malaysia and a mini tour of our apartment...

At the end of July we returned to Malaysia after an amazing three weeks in Indonesia. By this point it had been six weeks since either of us had been at work, as we used up the last of our annual leave so we could finish on June 18th, giving us time to see family and friends before we left. Although it's quite easy to get used to being on one long holiday, it was finally time to start our new jobs!

We arrived in Malaysia on 2nd July and, as we didn't fly to Bali until the 8th, we had a few days to sort out an apartment. We had a fantastic agent called Bernard who set us up with lots of viewings and also sorted out all the paperwork when we eventually chose somewhere.

We decided to live in one of the fairly new apartment blocks very close to work. We already know a few other people living in the building so we thought it would be a gentle introduction to living in Malaysia. Our place is on the 18th floor and has an open plan living/dining area, two bedrooms, two small bathrooms... and two kitchens (one is for cooking, washing up and laundry while the other is your 'show kitchen'!).

These pictures were taken before any of our shipping arrived, so it looks a bit empty, but you get the idea:

There is also a nice balcony that overlooks the slightly greener side of the building, rather than the road and shopping centre on the other side. In the evenings we can also see the bright lights of Singapore across the water.

Downstairs there is a small gym and communal pool which is nice for relaxing at the weekend...

We feel very lucky to live in such a lovely apartment and we are enjoying living here and settling in. It's a bit odd that it's so warm all the time, but we can't really complain about that!

We have now started our new jobs. Although we've only been there a few weeks we are having a great time getting to know the rest of the team and are already getting stuck in to our new roles.

Although we are a having a fab time exploring this new country there are a few things that are taking a little bit of getting used to... but I'll let Dan tell you more about those soon!
